Book the exact station pair, carry your original passport and leave time for security.

  • Search Railway 12306 in English for your date, train, class and current fare.
  • The normal advance-sale window is 15 days including today; station release times can differ.
  • Chongqing North, Chongqing West and Shapingba are different stations.
  • A train to Dazu or Wulong still needs an onward journey to the visitor entrance.

Booking and boarding

  1. Search the actual date

    Use official 12306. Compare station pair, duration, class and fare. A third-party reservation request is not the same as an issued ticket.

  2. Complete passenger details early

    Enter passport details accurately and resolve verification prompts before the trip. Ask a staffed railway counter if you cannot complete the online process.

  3. Carry the original passport

    Use the original document associated with your e-ticket. An itinerary printout is not a ticket. Ask staff for a manual check if an automatic gate cannot read the passport.

  4. Build in station time

    We suggest 45–60 minutes at an unfamiliar major station, longer during holidays or if you need counter assistance. Follow the train-specific boarding cutoff at the station.

Choosing an onward route

  • Chengdu

    Compare the complete hotel-to-hotel journey, including station transfers. Choose an arrival that leaves time to settle into the next city.

  • Dazu

    Dazu South is a rail arrival option, not the carving entrance. Arrange the road connection to Baodingshan or Beishan before choosing a return train.

  • Wulong

    Use the exact station on your dated search and arrange transport to the attraction. Arrival in the district is not arrival at the karst visitor centre.

  • Longer trips

    Compare train and flight on fare, luggage, total time and arrival hour. Avoid a tight last-train connection after an inbound flight.

Common questions

Do I need a paper ticket?
For an e-ticket, carry the original identity document used to book. An itinerary sheet is a record, not a substitute ticket.
How far ahead can I book?
The normal window is 15 days including today. Check 12306 for station release times and temporary arrangements.
Do Chengdu trains have one fixed fare?
No. Check the exact service, date, station pair and class on 12306.
What if my passport will not scan?
Ask station staff for the manual document-check process. Leave extra time for assistance.
