Choose Baodingshan first, plan the road connection and arrive before ticket checks close.

  • Dazu is a UNESCO World Heritage property with separate carving groups.
  • Published adult Baodingshan admission is ¥115 in March–November, ¥100 in December–February.
  • The operator directs passport holders to the staffed visitor-centre ticket counter.
  • Dazu South is not the attraction entrance. Include onward transport and a return pickup.

Choose your site

UNESCO describes carvings spanning several centuries, combining Buddhist, Taoist and Confucian themes with scenes of everyday life. Give yourself time to look closely rather than treating the visit as one photo stop.

For a first visit, we suggest Baodingshan as the main stop. Add Beishan only with transport arranged and time before admission ends. This is our recommendation, not a requirement to buy a combined ticket.

Published adult admission

Per adult. Baodingshan visitor transport is listed separately at ¥22 return / ¥12 one-way; the digital cinema is ¥80. Check bundle inclusions.

Tickets and logistics

  1. Carry your original passport

The operator directs passport holders to a staffed visitor-centre counter. Do not assume the resident-ID online flow accepts every foreign passport. Confirm arrangements for busy dates.

  2. Name the right destination

For Baodingshan, confirm 大足石刻游客中心 with your driver. Beishan / 北山石刻景区 is a separate site.

  3. Include onward transport

The official rail directions start at Dazu South and continue by local transport through Dazu town. Compare that complete journey with a direct road transfer from your hotel.

  4. Arrange the return

Agree pickup, time and waiting terms, or check every return connection. Leave a margin before your train instead of relying on the last possible service.

Make the day comfortable

  • Keep most of the day free

Count travel, ticketing, internal transport, viewing time and a meal separately. Adding Beishan changes the road logistics as well as visiting time.

  • Confirm mobility needs

Ask about your entrance, surfaces, steps and internal transport. A scenic-area description does not guarantee step-free access throughout.

  • Arrange interpretation

If a guide matters to you, ask about language, availability and cost before travelling rather than expecting an on-demand service.

Common questions

Is it a rail-only day trip?
No. Arrange transport from your arrival station to the chosen site and back.
Can foreign visitors book like resident-ID holders?
Published operator instructions direct passport holders to a staffed counter. Check before relying on an online resident-ID flow.
Can I visit both main sites?
If the opening arrangements and transfers fit your day. A combined ticket does not include the road connection or remove entry cutoffs.
Dazu or Wulong?
Choose Dazu for carved art and religious history, Wulong for landscape. Compare complete journeys for your date; neither is automatically quicker or easier.

Take the train to Wulong South, connect to the visitor centre and make the Three Natural Bridges your main visit. Plan the return first; the gorge is an optional addition, not an obligation.
