Area suitability is editorial judgement, not a promise about every hotel or street.
These examples link to official property pages or our detailed comparison. They are research starting points, not personal inspections or live availability.
Moxy, JW Marriott, Marriott Executive Apartments and Westin cover a city break, full-service facilities, apartment living and a view-focused stay.
Use the detailed shortlist to compare addresses and room conditions.
An option to research for Guanyinqiao shopping and dining. Hilton gives the address as Sincere Center, 68 Yanghe Yi Road.
重庆江北希尔顿逸林酒店 · 洋河一路68号协信中心. Do not confuse the North property with DoubleTree Chongqing Nan’an.
An option around Nanbin Road when the south-bank setting matters more than returning to Jiefangbei on foot. The official address is 9 Yanyu Road, Nan’an.
重庆万豪酒店 · 南岸区烟雨路9号. Allow time for river crossings; select a river-view category explicitly.
An option at the river confluence in Raffles City, at 2 Changjiang Binjiang Road, Yuzhong.
重庆来福士洲际酒店 · 渝中区长江滨江路2号. Chaotianmen is a distinct location choice, rather than a hotel beside the Liberation Monument.
Compare the same dates, occupancy and room conditions. Add repeated taxi journeys to the cost of a cheaper hotel farther away. During major holidays, both rates and transport access can change.
Check the total price, cancellation deadline and time zone, breakfast coverage, child occupancy and whether the view is specified in the room name. Static “from” prices are not a reliable basis for your booking.
Ask for the vehicle entrance pin, reception floor and any steps between them.
Ask for the useful metro exit and lift route, not just the nearest station name.
Confirm late check-in or bag storage and the documents needed for your reservation.
Check breakfast, beds, extra guests, deposit, cancellation and payment method.
Test your first sightseeing day and airport or railway departure before committing.
Turn your accommodation choice into a workable visit.
Choose an arrival route that fits your terminal and luggage.
See how the peninsula, south bank and western sights fit together.
Tool
In Chongqing the area decides the trip more than the hotel does.

Terrain note
Chongqing's terrain means the distance on a map is not the effort on the ground. Check whether your route from the metro exit to the hotel is flat, stepped or steep before booking.
Runner-up · 70% match
West of the centre, anchored by the old streets of Ciqikou and a large university district. Slower, cheaper, and a different version of Chongqing.

For layovers, pre-dawn departures and transit stopovers. Functionally useful, but not somewhere to base a holiday.
Good for 1 night

Where to stay
观音桥
The commercial centre of the north bank. Busier with residents than with visitors, and noticeably flatter than the south-bank core.
Good for 2-3 nights

Where to stay
解放碑
A practical base for a first two- or three-night visit: central sights and restaurants are in the same district. Choose the entrance as carefully as the map pin; the pedestrian core and the river are at different levels.
Good for 2-4 nights

Where to stay
南滨路
The south-bank riverside promenade, looking straight back at the skyline. The obvious base if the photographs are the point of the trip.

By priority
First-time visitors
Walking access to the old city, the rivers and the night views is worth more than a quieter street on a short trip.
Nightlife
A useful base for central evening dining; check the hours of the venues you want to visit.
Families
Compare room occupancy, nearby meals and a step-free entrance rather than assuming the whole area is equally easy.
Airport access
Compare the exact airport-to-hotel route and terminal, including the final walk and operating hours.
Photographers
The skyline is directly opposite and the promenade level is flat, which makes dusk shooting straightforward.
Quiet evenings
Compare quieter room positions away from busy streets, while allowing for travel to the city core.
Read this before booking
In most cities, choosing a hotel is about standard and price. In Chongqing it is about the last 200 m. Some properties in the older districts are reached by a staircase with no vehicular access; a few sit on a level that has no direct connection to the street the metro station is named after.
Ask the hotel directly, in writing, how a car reaches them and whether any part of the pedestrian approach involves steps. That single question is worth more than any star rating here.

Not "which hotel is best" but "how do I get from the nearest metro exit to the front door, and is any of it stairs".
Ask the hotel directly, in writing. A few properties in the older districts are reached by a staircase with no vehicular access, which is a materially different arrival from a hotel on a road.
